A 17-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide for the shooting death of a Tracy City woman.

Grundy County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as Debra Gayle Green, 59. She was found deceased by lawmen inside her Tracy City home, located in the 3300 block of State Route 56, around 1 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Her alleged killer has been placed in juvenile custody pending the hearing of her criminal petition.

According to Sheriff Virgil McNeece, the juvenile was located quickly.

“Investigators determined that a person of interest had left the residence. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Clouse Hill area. Officers with the Tracy City Police Department and Monteagle Police Department, along with Constable Patrick Stefanski, assisted in securing the vehicle.

“A female identified during the investigation was transported to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. After the scene was processed, investigators interviewed her. During the interview, she admitted involvement in the homicide.”

The individual who was charged is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
